Kristina Teachout Displays Resilience and Skill in Thrilling Quarterfinal Match at 2024 Paris Olympics
Paris, France – August 9, 2024 – Team USA's Kristina Teachout delivered an impressive performance in the Women's Taekwondo -67kg division quarterfinals at the 2024 Paris Olympics. In a thrilling match against Hungary's Viviana Marton at the Grand Palais, Teachout showcased her talent and determination, ultimately falling short with a final score of 8-6, 9-10, 10-16.
The match began with an exhilarating first round. Kristina Teachout first points came after landing a powerful body kick with 30 seconds remaining, followed by a head kick at the last second, bringing her total to 5 points. In a dramatic finish, both coaches challenged head kick calls via Instant Video Review (IVR), and both were accepted, adding 3 points to each athlete's score. Teachout emerged victorious in the first round with an 8-6 score:
- Kick, Body: 2 points with 30 seconds left
- Kick, Head: 3 points at the last second
- IVR - Head Kick: Accepted for Kristina (+3 points)
- IVR - Head Kick: Accepted for Viviana (+3 points)
The second round saw a strong response from Marton, who secured a narrow 10-9 win. Despite Hungary receiving two penalties, Teachout remained composed, scoring with a head kick and two body kicks to keep the round competitive:

- Kick, Body: 2 points with 36 seconds left
- Kick, Body: 2 points with 1 second left
The third round was action-packed, with both athletes displaying high-level skills and determination. Kristina Teachout delivered a turning kick to the body for 4 points and continued to fight fiercely. Although Marton secured a 16-10 win in the round, four penalties against Hungary added 4 points to Teachout's score, highlighting her relentless spirit and refusal to give up:

- Kick, Body: 2 points with 24 seconds left
- 4 Penalties on Hungary: +4 points for Kristina
